About Us

Sports Information Centre

The main role of Sports Information Centre (SIC) are:
  • to collect
  • to manage
  • to preserve and
  • to disseminate sports information
 
This center is a specialized library which provides services to researchers, coaches, athletes, officials and ISN staffs. Sports Information Centre comprises four major components which are  library, documentation, audio visual and publishing; and dissemination of information.

Library 

  • Acquisition and dissemination of sports information through printed and non printed material.
  • User-friendly library facilities:
o    Photocopying machines and scanners
o    ASTRO, Internet Facilities & WebOPAC
o    Sports Video Collection
o    A comfortable space Audio Visual
o    Provides a collection of  Sports Video.
  • Providing on-line database to search for sports information.
  • Online Journal: Ovid, Info-track, Medline, JAP, Sport Discuss, e-Media.
  • Providing foreign language learning software. (Japan, Italy, Indonesia, Germany, etc..)

Documentation
 
  • Archival storage materials and the documentation of sports data, statistics, (tournament results, athlete biographies, research papers, etc.).
  • Providing e-Resources "sports:
o    e-Photo (sports image database)
o    e-cutting (newspaper database)

Audio Visual
 
  • Providing photography and videography.
  • Editing video and audio
  • Providing AV services:
o    PA System
o    "Multicamera Production (MCP) 
 
  • Recording of sports programs from sports broadcasters - ESPN, Eurosports, etc.

Information Dissemination
 
  • Provide educational exhibitions to raise awareness of sports among the public.
  • Disseminate information through the Information Centre by e-Quip (Electronic Query Using Internet Protocol)

 Rules 

  • Patrons who are not properly attire (with slippers, sleeveless shirts, short pants/ Bermudas) are not allowed into the library.
  • Only staffs, coaches and athletes or those who had permission are allowed to enter the library and use the provided services.
  • Silence will be strictly observed in the library. Hand phones must be switched off or silent mode before entering the library. Users can bring in their hand phones but not permitted to receive and make any calls
  • Reservation of seats is not permitted. Books and other articles left on the tables or chairs will be removed by the Library staff.
  • Patrons are not allowed to make heavy noise, sleeping and doing something that may attract attentions and affecting the learning environment of the library.
  • Eating, drinking and smoking are not permitted within library premises.
  • Bags excluding handbag, cases, files, folders are not allowed to be taken into the Library. Those materials must be left near the entrance/exit.
  • Bag excluding handbag; helmet and umbrella are not allowed to be brought into the library. Patrons may put those things at the baggage storage locker outside the library.
  • Anything of value should not be left unattended in the Library. The Library does not take responsibility for the loss or damaged of such items.
  • Patrons are not allowed to remove or to change the arrangement of chairs or tables in the Library.
  • Patrons caught mutilating or committing theft of library material will be sent to
    Director General.
  • Library staffs have the right to ask anyone causing disturbances to leave the library.
  • Patrons may be required to show all books and items they carry for inspection at the exit gate before leaving the Library. (Especially when the alarm triggered).
  •  Patrons found breaking library rules will have their library privileges suspended.

Friday : 8.00AM - 12.15PM

: (Closed at 12.15PM - 2.45PM for Friday Prayer)

: 2.45PM - 6.00PM
Service closed on Saturday, Sunday and public holiday
