Governance in sport is a hot topic, whether you are working at the national or community level everything from setting strategic plans to managing boards needs to be done. The environment in which the sport community operates is continuously changing.

Strategic planning is a process of defining your organization’s strategy or direction, and making decisions on allocating your resources to pursue this strategy, including capital and people. Put simply, strategic planning is the formal consideration of an organization's future course. Strategic planning can be used as a management tool, a leadership tool, or both.

Sports organizations interested in undergoing a strategic planning process will benefit from assessing their organization’s state of readiness.
